We have to revise the schedule for the rest of the semester. My current thinking is to throw away the last section on sensor networks (but maybe not) and move everything else back to fill the space. In particular: Lectures - finish off the logical-link control lectures in the data-link layer tonight (Thursday, 8 November) and next Tuesday. The next four lectures after that, starting next Thursday, will be on the physical layer. The peer-to-peer section starts on schedule (in some sense) on Tuesday, 4 December. Homework - the data-link layer homework was due on Thursday, 1 November, the last lecture of the section. The homework is still due on the last lecture of the section, which is now next Tuesday, 13 November. If you turned-in your homework already, you can rework it and turn it in again if you want. The physical-layer homework assignment will be out at the start of the physical-layer section, next Thursday, 15 November. Having thrown away the sensor-network section, the associated homework could throw away too, but instead it will be an optional homework. Your final grade will be the straight, unweighted average of three tests and four homework assignments. The lowest two homework grades are dropped. If you do the optional sensor-network homework, the lowest three homework grades out of seven are dropped. Tests - The second test was scheduled for Tuesday, 6 November. Because it covers through the data-link layer, it's been rescheduled to next Thursday, 15 November, the start of the physical-link section. The third test will be rescheduled to the last day of class (Thursday, 13 December). The rescheduled tests will be the same time as the first test (the first hour of class). The make-up for test 1 also has to be rescheduled, but I have no opinion on that; almost any consensus the class comes to will be fine with me (remember that the time scheduled for the make-up is 8 to 9 p.m.). I'm going to maintain the home and schedule web page as if nothing has changed so I have an idea of what we're supposed to be doing. We can discuss these changes in class tonight. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.Received on Thu Nov 08 2012 - 13:47:41 EST
