CS 305 & 503, Data Structures & Algorithms


  1. Each pop quiz gets a grade from 0 to 5.
  2. All unused pop-quiz grades expire at the start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting.

    Q: Does this mean I can't use my pop-quiz points between Reading Day and the final exam?

    A: Yes. Both Reading Day and the final exam occur after the last regularly scheduled class meeting. All pop-quiz points must be used before the start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting.

    Q: Does this mean I can't use my pop-quiz points after the last regularly scheduled class meeting?

    A: Yes. Pop-quiz point expire at the start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting. All pop-quiz points must be used before the start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting.

    Q: Suppose the last regularly scheduled class meeting is canceled, due to bad weather say. Do the pop-quiz points expire anyway?

    A: Yes. All pop-quiz point expire at the scheduled start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting, independent of whether or not the meeting occurs. All pop-quiz points must be used before the start of the last regularly scheduled class meeting.

  3. Regular grades can only be raised to 100; it is not possible to have a regular grade grater than 100.
  4. After a pop-quiz grade has been added to a regular grade, any of the left-over pop-quiz grade is lost, unavailable for further use.
  5. Q: If I add a 5 pop-quiz grade to a 97 regular grade, then I can’t take the extra 3 pop-quiz points and add them to some other regular grade.

    A: Correct.
