The proposal is for an optional final exam on Wednesday, 2 May, from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m. The format will be the same as the regular tests, except it will
have more questions; how many more I haven't determined. Lowest question grade
will be dropped, and the grade for the final exam will be the straight
unweighted average of the remaining n - 1 question grades.

The final grade in the class will be the straight unweighted average of the
highest six accumulated test and assignment grades. Note that this grade is
independent of, although not unrelated to, whether or not you take the final
exam.

If you want to take the optional final exam, let me know by Wednesday, 25
April, at 6 p.m. (the start of the last class). If nobody expresses an
interest in taking the final exam, there will instead be an open lecture on
software transactional memory.

Let me know if you have any questions.
