I've had some reports of code coredumping when using SaferSTL. I've not been
able to reproduce these problems in my code, but I have been able to reproduce
them in the code of your colleagues having problems (bad sign #1).
I've found a programming error (bad sign #2) in STLPort, the STL implementation
on which SaferSTL is based. Fixing the error got rid of the coredumps in your
colleague's code, but the code still doesn't work correctly (bad sign #3).
I have updated SaferSTL (actually just the library) to include my fix. If
you're having what look like problems with SaferSTL, try compiling without
SaferSTL. If the problems go away, then SaferSTL is the most likely culprit.
Discontinue using SaferSTL and mail me a copy of your code so I have more code
to work with. If the problems don't go away, then your code's the most likely
culprit.
Given the late date at which these issues are coming up, and given the fact
that I haven't run across these issues earlier, I won't be using SaferSTL when
I test your third assignment (I do reserve the right to use SaferSTL to go
exploring for coding problems).
