MU employees have just gotten an e-mail message from the chief of police
stating that employees must have an MU id to get on campus. I have no idea if
this message (or a similar one) was sent to students, or if it applies to
students, but to be on the safe side, you should assume that it does
(rationality may be bounded, but irrationality hardly ever is).
As you leave wherever to go to campus, make sure that you
1 Have your MU student id with you.
2 Leave early; if they're going to check everybody's id, it's going to take a
while to get on campus (even if they check only employee ids).
I've asked Charlie Pack (the CS department chair) to ask the chief to clarify
the message with respect to students.
Do not worry about tonight's (Thursday, 20 March) test. If there are people
who can't make it, or who can't make it early enough, I'll hold a makeup of
equivalent difficult next week.
Finally, nothing in this note should be considered as official MU policy; this
is just my interpretation of a message of questionable provenance.
