At the moment, the cs lab machines don't have a standards compliant c++
compiler; g++ is using an old version of the STL, and the Solaris Forte CC
compiler was broken over the summer and hasn't been fixed yet.
For the moment this isn't too big of a problem, but it could develop into one
as we move further into the STL and C++. I'm pressing to get a standards
compliant compiler installed as soon as possible; until then, if you have
trouble compiling your code, particularly with some of the more obscure
features of standard c++, first check to make sure the feature is supported by
the compiler.
