Hawk Alert 99-05

November 17, 1999

The Monmouth University Police Department is investigating acts of Harassment and Wrongful Impersonation wherein perpetrator(s) have misrepresented themselves in five incidents from November 16 - 17, 1999. The perpetrators(s) are calling University residents stating that they are from the University Police Department and that their vehicle is illegally parked and will be towed immediately if it is not moved.

Be advised that these calls are not coming from the University Police Department and that we are asking any student(s) who receives a call to follow the Call Trace Procedure: 1) Depress the switch-hook slightly (just like you would to activate call waiting), 2) Press * 9 9, 3) Return to the caller for a moment and hang up, 4) Contact the Monmouth University Police Department at 571-3472 to report the harassing call to the Dispatcher and an Officer will respond to your location immediately to take a report. Do not go outside to move your car.

Any individual that receives a harassing call of this nature, we are asking that you call the University Police Department at 571-3472.
