The program comprises a 36-credit curriculum, with nine (9) core courses and three (3) "advanced," elective courses, including a 6-credit thesis research and a 3-credit practicum. The curriculum is built around the components of the System Development Life Cycle. The nine core courses provide the student with the foundations of modern software engineering.
There is an ongoing Distinguished Lecture Series of invited talks and demonstrations by noted leaders in the field. The purpose of this series is to promote dialog on the latest problems and trends.
The Master of Science in Software Engineering degree requires the completion of a total of 36 credits, which include the following nine core courses (these core courses total to 27 of the 36 required credits):

elective courses (6 credits) selected from those listed below
or
SE 590 (Thesis Research, 6 credits) and ONE elective course (3 credits)
selected from those listed below.
