MONMOUTH, DREXEL WOMEN’S TENNIS STOPPED BY DARNKESS
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University and Drexel University had their match stopped due to darkness with the score tied at 4-4 on Tuesday afternoon at the MU Tennis Complex. The match will be completed at a later date.
Erin Dunn led the Monmouth charges with a pair of victories. Dunn earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. She teamed with Anneabeth Bailey to earn an 8-5 victory over Drexel’s Beth Childs and Lynn Pigliacampi. Lisa DePaolo earned a win at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2, over Childs. Gina Fay posted the Hawks’ other victory, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.
The deciding match between Monmouth’s Laura Marchese and Drexel’s Julie
Bonner was stopped in the midst of the second set. Bonner won the first
set 6-3 and Marchese was leading in the second set 5-4 when it was determined
it was too dark to continue play.
