MONMOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS THROTTLES FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 7-0 Friday afternoon at the MU Tennis Complex.

Monmouth outscored Fairleigh Dickinson 60 games to 8 in singles action. Lauren McCormick and Anneabeth Bailey went unblemished winning 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Gina Fay was triumphant 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Danielle Brunelli won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Lisa DePaolo won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. The Hawks won at No. 6 singles via forfeit.

In doubles action, Fay and Kelly Phoebus were victorious 8-0 at in the No. 2 slot and Monmouth was awarded the No. 3 doubles match due to an FDU forfeit. FDU’s lone victory came at No. 1 doubles where Marissa Pugh and Elina Magid bested Brunelli and DePaolo.

The Hawks continue action tomorrow when they travel to Maryland for a 1 p.m. match at Mount St. Mary’s.
