MONMOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS ANOTHER CLOSE MATCH
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis squad dropped its second consecutive 5-4 decision, this time in a home match vs. Iona College at the Monmouth University Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
Erin Dunn (Williamstown, N.J./Pope Paul VI) won two matches for Monmouth (4-3, 2-0 NEC). She defeated Iona’s Sue Leabo at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1 and teamed with Anneabeth Bailey (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) to notch an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Lisa DePaolo (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) was triumphant for the Hawks at No. 5 singles to raise her season record to 6-1. DePaolo topped the Gaels’ Erin Muldoon, 6-2, 6-3. Gina Fay (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) defeated Iona’s Kira Philips at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Fay has dropped just three games in her last four sets.
Monmouth returns to action Thursday as the Hawks travel to Staten Island for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Wagner.
