HAWKS CLOSE OUT NEW ENGLAND ROAD SWING WITH A LOSS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis squad dropped a 7-0 decision to the College of the Holy Cross Sunday morning in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Monmouth was swept in doubles action as the Crusaders took an early 1-0 lead in the contest. Sisters Amy and Missy Crump posted an 8-0 victory over Danielle Brunelli and Lisa DePaolo at No. 1 doubles, twin sisters Allison and Melissa Levy logged an 8-1 triumph over Gina Fay and Kelly Phoebus at No. 2 doubles. Jianna Chew and Sara Spain topped Anneabeth Bailey and Jennifer Taylor 8-3 to round out the doubles action.

The Crusaders went through singles action without dropping a set.

Monmouth returns to action on Tuesday as the Hawks host Wagner in a 3 p.m. contest at the MU Tennis Complex.
