MONMOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS WINS SECOND IN A ROW
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis team went unscathed as the Hawks posted a 7-0 victory over Central Connecticut State Saturday afternoon in New Britain, Connecticut.
Monmouth earned the doubles point as they ran threw the Blue Devils 3-0. Danielle Brunelli and Lisa DePaolo beat Rose Anderson and Elenor Flower 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, Gina Fay and Kelly Phoebus toppled Heather McGaughan and Katie Andersen 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and Anneabeth Bailey and Jennifer Taylor dethroned Denise Thomas and Sara DeCoimer at No. 3 doubles.
It singles action, Monmouth lost just one set as DePaolo, Fay, Lauren McCormick, Bailey and Phoebus all recorded straight-set victories. Brunelli won a three set match, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 over Anderson.
Monmouth continues its schedule on Sunday as the Hawks travel to Massachusetts for a 10 a.m. match vs. Holy Cross.
