MONMOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS SEASON OPENER

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis squad dropped its season opening match, 7-0, vs. Lafayette College Monday afternoon in West Long Branch, N.J.

Monmouth fell behind early as the Leopards swept the doubles matches. Monika Serrano and Ali Kelly defeated Monmouth’s Danielle Brunelli and Lisa DePaolo, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Lafayette won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by identical 8-4 scores.

Monmouth’s best singles effort was turned in by Anneabeth Bailey at No. 5 singles. Bailey dropped her match to Susan King, 5-7, 6-4, 1-6.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday as they travel to Lawrenceville, N.J., for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Rider University.
