MONMOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS OPENER AT LAFAYETTE
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University’s women’s tennis team dropped its season opener at Lafayette College, 9-0, Wednesday.
Lafayette improved to 2-0 on the season. Monmouth’s mark stands at 0-1.
The Leopards’ Meghan Rowe defeated Danielle Brunelli (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 singles position, Lilly Fardisasheh topped MU’s Lauren McCormick (Wenonah, N.J/Gateway Regional). Laura Marchese (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan), Erin Dunn (Williamstown, N.J./Pope Paul VI), Lisa DePaulo (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) and Gina Fay (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) all lost singles matches for the Hawks.
In doubles action, Shannon Rowe and Fardisasheh defeated Brunelli and Marchese, 8-4 at the No. 1 position. Meghan Rowe and Felicia Turturiello defeated McCormick and DePaulo, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles. In No. 3 doubles, Katie Gibbons and Lisa Sayed defeated Dunn and Annabeth Bailey (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan), 8-5.
Monmouth continues its fall slate with a pair of matches in Connecticut
this weekend. The Hawks travel to New Britain for a 1 p.m. match vs. Central
Connecticut State on Saturday. The trek to Fairfield Sunday for a Noon
match vs. Sacred Heart.
