LINDQUIST NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK IN MEN’S SOCCER

West Long Branch, N.J. – The Northeast Conference released its league Player of the Week awards this afternoon, and Monmouth’s Craig Lindquist (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) earned Player of the Week honors.  The junior forward led the Hawks to two victories last week, while posting an impressive five goals.

Monmouth opened the week’s action hosting Bucknell University, getting the victory 3-2.  Lindquist scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute to give the Hawks their second win of the season.

After being held scoreless in a 4-0 loss in the conference opener to UMBC, Lindquist exploded for all four Monmouth goals, in a 4-0 victory over Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday.  The four goals in a game tied a school record, which has stood since 1991, when Joni Kallioinen posted four scores against Robert Morris.

Lindquist currently leads Monmouth in goals scored (six) and scoring (13 points).

The Hawks (3-4-0, 1-1 NEC) continue action on Wednesday, as they travel to the University of Delaware for a 7 p.m. match against the Blue Hens.
