MONMOUTH SMOTHERS QUINNIPIAC IN LACROSSE, 20-2

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University posted a 20-2 victory over Quinnipiac in Northeast Conference women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in Hamden, Connecticut.

With the victory Monmouth remained in first place in the Northeast Conference with a 5-0 record in league play. The Hawks own an 8-6 overall record. Quinnipiac  fell to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the NEC.

Monmouth’s attack was led by Jess Salvesen who posted four goals and two assists. Jennie Versaggi came off the bench to add four goals and two assists. Heather Bryan, Kristen Hall and Stacy Sydlo each tallied two goals for the Hawks. Laura Levins registered one goal and one assist and Stephenie LaGrossa booked one goal and one assist. Meg Brown, Lisa Cherill, Rebekah Murphy and Beth Watts chipped in with one goal apiece.

Stacy Makris made seven saves and allowed two goals in the first half of action. In the second half, Emily Brugger recorded a shutout, making five saves.

Monmouth returns to action on Sunday as they travel to Fairfield, Connecticut for a 1 p.m. contest vs. Sacred Heart University.
