MONMOUTH LACROSSE LOSES AT AMERICAN
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University dropped an 8-5 decision to American University in women’s collegiate lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Reeves Field in Washington, D.C.
Monmouth (7-6) took a 3-0 lead in the contest, but the Eagles responded by scoring four of the last five goals in the opening stanza and the game was knotted at 4-4 at the intermission.
In the second half, Monmouth managed to convert on just 1-of-10 shot attempts as American (6-7) outscored the Hawks 4-1 down the stretch.
Monmouth’s Stacy Makris made 10 saves in goal for the Hawks.
Monmouth’s offense was led by Jess Salvesen with two goals. Heather Bryan added one goal and one assist. Lisa Cherill and Rebekah Murphy also added goals for the Hawks.
Monmouth returns to action on Saturday, April 21 as the Hawks travel
to Hamden, Conn., for a 2 p.m. contest at Quinnipiac.
