KERSHAW EARNS NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONORS
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University goalkeeper Brittany Kershaw was tabbed the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for field hockey the league announced on Monday.
Kershaw earned the accolades after posting a 3-1 record, 0.89 goals-against average and .902 save percentage for the Hawks last week. In a 2-1 overtime win versus Sacred Heart University last Tuesday, Kershaw allowed just one goal while making eight saves on the afternoon. She then allowed just three goals in MU’s 3-2 double overtime loss to Quinnipiac University, while piling up an incredible 27 saves against the Braves.
Kershaw capped off the week with a pair of shutouts over the weekend vs. St. Francis (Pa.) University (3-0)and the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (4-0).
The Franklinville, N.J., native currently leads the Northeast Conference in save percentage (.803) and ranks second in goals against average (1.71).
Monmouth owns a 5-4 overall record and a 4-2 ledger in Northeast Conference
play. The Hawks return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Lawrenceville,
N.J., for a 4 p.m. contest at Rider University.
