Dean Ehehalt enters his sixth year as the Hawks head coach.

Last season, was the highlight of Ehehalt's coaching career as he led the Hawks to a Northeast Conference Tournament Championship and their first-ever berth in the NCAA Division I Regionals.  Along a road paved with many twists and turns, Monmouth posted a school-best 30 wins.  Ehehalt has compiled a 131-162 record in his seven years as a head coach, including a 110-124 mark over the past five seasons.  The skipper has posted three 20-plus win seasons in West Long Branch and has led Monmouth to a share of two NEC regular season titles (1996 & 98).  In 1996, he was named NEC and New Jersey Coach of the Year.

Ehehalt arrived at Monmouth after spending the 1992 and 1993 seasons at Upsala College where he implemented the resurgence  of a Division III program.  After finishing 5-22 in his first season, the energetic Ehehalt guided a predominantly freshman squad to a 16-16 mark in his second campaign.

The Middletown, NJ native spent the previous year as an assistant coach at Kennesaw State College in Marietta, Georgia where he was directly responsible for all aspects of defensive play and recruiting.  Ehehalt spent the Fall of 1989 as an assistant coach at Princeton University where he was involved in recruiting, hitting fundamentals and outfield play. Ehehalt began his coaching career in 1988 as an assistant at his alma mater, East Carolina.  He graduated in 1987 with a B.S. in physical education.  In 1990, he earned his second degree from the school, receiving a master's in education, in the discipline of physical education.

As a senior at the North Carolina school, Ehehalt was named to the 1987 NCAA Scholar-Athlete team.   The same year, he helped lead the Pirates to a league tournament championship

Prior to his arrival at East Carolina, Ehehalt spent two years playing at Brookdale Community College where he was named First Team Junior College All-Region XIX (1984). Besides directing baseball clinics and summer camps at Monmouth, Ehehalt has also worked camps at Kennesaw St., Clemson, Princeton, and East Carolina, to name a few.

Ehehalt resides in Bricktown, with his wife, Lee Ann and their seven-year old daughter Kelsi Mae.
 
 
JEFF BARBALINARDO
Assistant Coach (Monmouth '95)
Fifth Season
Jeff Barbalinardo begins his fourth season within the collegiate coaching ranks.  It has become a familiar sight to see #31 on the Monmouth diamond, first as a player and now as an assistant coach.

The Beachwood, NJ native assists with all the daily activities of the program, with a special emphasis put on outfield development. Barbalinardo, who graduated in 1995 with a degree in education, collected some impressive numbers while patrolling the Monmouth outfield.  The rightfielder posted a .282 batting average, 98 runs, 104 runs batted in and 157 hits.

Barbalinardo, who will receive his master of education degree in May, completed his student teaching last Fall at South Toms River Elementary School.
