Education 532:  The Computer as an Instructional Tool
(Links to student projects)
Monmouth University, School of Education

Dr. David McCurry, Assistant Professor
Dr. Letty Graybill, Adjunct Professor

These pages were designed by students in this course in an effort to suggest to other teachers the possibility of incorporating web pages in  their teaching and student learning. These pages can be used by learners as learning sites that are directly related to fulfilling the requirements of the New Jersey Core Content Standards. They are interactive and can be used as mini texts or resource materials for teachers and students.

Dr. McCurry's commentary on the course:
  • This semester proved to be an interesting challenge. The skill level in the class ranged from relative technology "newbies" to a couple of system administrators with fairly advanced technical knowledge. As you can see from the examples below, the overall skill level of each member of the class improved.
  • Students worked either alone or in groups which ranged from 2 to 5 members. Expectations for evaluation and assessment were established through the use of a general guideline document and through individually developed, peer-negotiated contracts.
  • Participants in the course also established their baseline skills level through a skills inventory questionnaire and survey.
  • In addition to the creation of a curriculum-based web project, course participants were expected to develop a plan to implement their web pages within authentic classroom environments, identified early on in the course.
  • The projects represent the diverse interests of the learners and are framed in an interdisciplinary approach to technology use.
ENJOY!
