General Expectations for Group Projects

ED 532 Spring 2000

While each group is working on a diverse range of projects in this course, here are some general expectations that all groups (and any individual) will have to meet for the final project. This rubric will be used in determining that part of the final grade for the course:

  1. Project demonstrates appropriate use of a range of technology skills related to the production of the project.
  2. The project design describes a range of technology skills used collectively by the group and satisfies the "appropriate use" definitions developed in class and willingness of the group to explore new technologies.

  3. Individual group members document their progress in learning and using new technology skills related to classroom use.
  4. Individual criteria for skills acquisition will be based on entry data collected in skills assessment survey administered at the beginning of the course. Individual progress will be assessed in self-evaluation and in dialogue with the instructor. Documentation includes initial survey and the skills acquisition forms.

  5. The project is trial tested with authentic populations of learners in PreK-12 learning environments. The group has collaborated with teachers, educators and/or community members in the implementation of the project. An evaluation of the project design includes information from this experience.
  6. Through at least one of the group members, the materials produced in the course will be made available to learners outside the university environment. A simple assessment of effectiveness and evaluation of the project design will be implemented.

  7. The project is completed with the following required components:
In addition, each group will fulfill the expectations in the final project contract to be negotiated with the instructor.
