Prescribing Antibiotics-   March 12, 2002 Bey Hall- room 128  7-9pm
Fee $35.     $20. (Monmouth University Students)
 presented by Joseph J.  Dicubellis R.Ph. M.P.H., Practicing Pharmacist Monmouth Medical Center.

 This program will cover the parameters for prescribing antibiotics: selecting the most effective drug, appropriate dosage for age and weight, avoiding food and drug interactions, drug level monitoring, renal function monitoring, and review of culture and sensitivity screenings.

Domestic Violence, Teen Abuse, Sexual Assault:  Identification and Intervention- April 11, 2002 Bey Hall- room 128  6-9pm  Fee $35.  $20. (for Monmouth University Students)

 Presented by Karen Gillespie, Coordinator Teen Dating Abuse Prevention Program for the Women’s Center Monmouth County.
 Eileen Allen, RN, Coordinator of the Monmouth County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program.

This program will include nursing assessment and intervention techniques as they apply to the care of victims of domestic violence and teen abuse. Learn to identify the red flags, the resources and crisis intervention methods. This course will also focus the role and responsibility of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.

Suturing Workshop- May 7, 2002 Lab Room Edison, 215  6-9pm
 Fee $35.  $20. (for Monmouth University Students)

 Presented by Ethicon,  “hands on” techniques for suturing. This is a laboratory class.

Pediatric Physical Assessment-  May 18, 2002 3rd Floor NAB  9-3pm
 Fee $55.  $40. for (Monmouth University Students)

Presented by Steve Miller DO, Practicing Pediatrician with Navesink
Pediatrics & Laura Jannone, RN, BS, MS,  Coordinator of the School Nurse Certification Program and faculty member at Monmouth University.

This program focuses on the assessment of the school age child and will present identification and intervention tips, techniques for physical exam, and guidelines for the management of health issues.

Introduction to Forensic Nursing – June 11, 2002  6-9pm
Fee $35.  $25 for Students

Forensic Nursing is a new and rapidly growing area of health care. Forensic nurses in New Jersey currently provide care and treatment to a wide variety of patients in many different practice settings. Many nurses perform some types of forensic nursing tasks during their daily routines.
Come join us in taking a closer look at various roles of the forensic nurse
in the areas of Women's Health, Gerontology and Death Investigation.
