The Luther Memorial Christian Preschool was begun in 1993 as a means to serve the community by providing a school in which the love of God and the encouragement of His Word could be offered to children and their families. The school accepts 3 and 4 year-old children whose parents are desirous of having them participate in a Christian group learning experience.
The program is a unique blend of academic challenges and God's Word in a warm nurturing environment that encourages the development of the "whole child." We seek to provide a physically safe and emotionally secure setting where children can explore and experiment with a variety of materials, and experiences. We encourage cooperative play and foster independence and positive self-esteem.
Our curriculum introduces the basic doctrines of the Christian faith and applies these concepts to day-to-day lives of young children. They will see many examples in which Jesus showed Ms great love for people and they will learn about God's care for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
A DAY IN PRESCHOOL...
|
Morning sessions run from 9:00 to 11:30 and afternoon sessions from 12:30 to 3:00. Each session begins with free choice play until everyone has arrived. Circle time includes praying, singing and hearing God's Word. This time is not only instructional, it serves to set the theme for the day's activities.
Each age group has its own curriculum based on age appropriate topics and activities. Monthly themes are enhanced with cooking activities, arts and crafts, cooperative indoor and outdoor play, science experiments and field trips. Parents will be asked to volunteer as chaperons and provide transportation.
Our outside area is totally fenced, in a park like setting located away from the street. All play equipment is on a safe sand base. Indoor play may be in the classroom or in our large Fellowship Hall. All activities are supervised by the teachers.
A healthy snack is provided daily by the school. Snacks will be prefaced with a devotion, creating additional opportunities for children's social and language development. |

The Luther Memorial Preschool is a family oriented program and thus we try to maintain personal contact with parents on a daily basis. Parents will have conferences with the teachers twice a year, but are encouraged to approach staff at anytime with questions or concerns.
The school is governed by the Pre-school Board of the Luther Memorial Church. Each class has two qualified experienced teachers; one serving as Head Teacher and the other as Assistant Teacher. The Pastor also meets with the children on a regular basis during chapels.
Transportation is not provided by the school. it is suggested that parents form car pools to help each other.
Vacation and holiday schedules are set by the school in the school calendar. A phone chain will be established should there be any reason to close the school. All families will be asked to participate. |
